Day 15

Ever been to the Austrian Alps or Viennese Ball? Well, I have! All in one day. Let me tell you about it.

We departed at 8 am for Semmering, a town located in Lower Austria, to explore the Austrian Alps. I learned that Freud frequented his summer home in Semmering, can you blame him? The view was absolutely gorgeous. And I'm not talking about me. I'm a sucker for breathtaking views, and notably, this was one. We rode a gondola lift up to the top and climbed a tower where we enjoyed the view for awhile. After taking in its beauty, we hiked down a trail to our starting point and hopped back on the bus to head to lunch. I had turkey schnitzel and fries, followed by melange and cherry chocolate cake. We then headed on another expedition to a super neat cave and a philosopher's old home, where he taught as well. We ended our adventurous day around 9 pm.

From the Alps to the ball in 30 minutes, I was changed and ready to go by 9:30. Impressive, I know. Despite laughing off our many mistakes, we danced the quadrille with everyone in attendance at midnight. Needless to say, I had a ball at the ball - I couldn't resist. Although I enjoyed getting all fancied up for a night, I'm more of a simple kinda gal. Regardless, it was a fun night and I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience such an eventful day.
